Airfield lights system that is the necessary facility which is used to ensure the aircraft take-offs and landings at the airports at night or in low visibility. The working state, reliability, emergency quality of the airfield lights system is related to the safety of landing and sliding. However, the most domestic airport itinerantly inspect the aids lighting by manual inspection, in the busy operation at airport, manual inspection methods can not meet the requirements of Civil Aviation. Therefore, it is of great significance to design a failure detection automation system.The issue is the design of airfield lights fault detection system, which can automatically detect fault conditions of the lights, accurately localize the position of fail lighting showed in the control room. Install the fault detection unit controled by AT89C51 single-chip between the isolation transformer and the lighting, real-time collect the working condition of lighting at the scene, analysis the levels of lighting and fault conditions, send to scene lighs modules, the scene lights modules transform the message to the primary and secondary lights control room by using carrier FSK, according to the received command signals form control room module, complete the appropriate collection and upload of fault information, shows the related parameters after being processed by the control room module, parameters include: the address of fault lighting ,fault type and other information. The design includes the design of hardware and software. The main component of hardware design include: fault detection unit, carrier communication modules, power line interface circuit , the address encoding unit, LCD display unit and power supply units and so on. The main components of software design include: fault detection unit, control module carrier communication unit, on-site lighting module carrier communications unit and other units of the software design.The innovation of the system is using line carrier communication technology based on FSK, select the power line carrier chip ST7538Q which meet the stander of the domestic electric network, the use of power line cable as a signal carrier, not specifically dedicating cable laying, thereby save the a large cost of systems engineering.
