Railway traction power includes DC motor,AC motor and permanent magnet motor. Permanent magnet motor includes permanent magnet brushless DC (BLDC) and Permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM). AC motor drive system is very important interiorly today,but is very mature abroad. BLDC is as simple as DC machine and as capability as AC machine.Permanent magnet brushless DC motor has been researched in this paper.Commonly, BLDC consists of a Permanent magnet motor, position sensor and an inverte. This paper has introduced the motor's structure,theory,armature windings,position sensor and the invertion of rotation.The design principle of BLDC is big power with little weight. The wave must be amended because it's irregulation. The EMF of brushless DC motors with straight slots and skew slots are comPuted resPeetiveiy.The voltage equation taking the charaeteristics Parameter of IGBT and anti-Parallel diode into aceount.The Maxwell's equations are predigested to accord with BLDC.Flux and magnetic force line is counted easily through A.The model is transformed from three-dimensional to planar.A new BLDC has been designed in MagneForce and it's characteristics and parameters such as Stator outer diameter,Stator Inner diameter,Number of Slots,Rotor outer diameter,Rotor Inner diameter,Num of Poles,Magnet Thk,Magnet Width,Magnet material,Stack length,Air gap,Armature Winding,Driving Circuit and FE Solver & Mesh Control have seted.At last,the armature reaction,effects of permanent magnet magnetization direetion on air-gap magnetic field,EMF,straight slots and skew,inductane,current,power,torque ripple,transient have been discussed,simulated and optimized.
