2008 Wenchuan earthquake in China had caused great casualties and economic losses. In addition to the intensity of earthquakes is far more than the intensity of local security, the large number of rural residential earthquake damage is the main loss of one of the main reasons.Due to the relatively backward economy and a lack of knowledge of earthquake disaster prevention and other reasons, the seismic capacity building towns and villages is still very weak for a long time. How to improve the town's comprehensive seismic performance of the construction is put in our engineering and technical personnel before an important issue. Since the "Eleventh Five-Year" to speed up the goal of a new socialist countryside construction, the construction of small towns and villages have become the "three rural" an important part of the work. Seismic work in villages and towns is the new era, a new stage of urban and rural development the focus of the work of disaster prevention and mitigation. Wuhan, as one of the national historical and cultural city, located in Hubei Province Jianghan off Au and fold belt of the transfer zone, earthquakes and earthquake hazards are in the lower level, but it is an unusual high distant earthquake zone. It is very important to systematical study seismic behavior of village buildings in Wuhan City.The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) Finite element analysis software is adopted for modal analysis and compares the results of the analysis with actual testing data to validate the correct and rationality offinite modals. When establishing modal of the hollow masonry wall , According toactual testing make sure the stiffness of hollow masonry wall structure due to its complexity. Concrete methods are as follow: adjust the thickness of shell element, make the finite element analysis modal frequency similar to actual testing frequency, and validate the correct and rationality of finite modals.(2) Through the response spectrum analysis method for checking the structure of load-bearing capacity, analyzing of the structure's response respectively under different intensity of the earthquake response, and further to identify the weak parts of the structure. Then assessment their seismic behavior at last. (3) This paper choose a variety of different types of seismic wave to conduct dynamic time-history analysis , and calculate the seismic behavior of hollow masonry wall structures under rare earthquake .The conclusion can be as basis of analysis and computation on seismic behavior of hollow masonry structures.(4) Through analyzing on the difference examples of masonry structures, approach a subject from various key factors impacting of seismic behavior on masonry wall such as mortar strength grade, ring-beam and columns structure and so on. The results show that all of raising mortar strength grade or setting ring-beam and columns can improve the seismic behavior of masonry structure more or less. But measure with setting ring-beam and columns is most effective.In this paper, the research done by not only the surrounding areas of Wuhan City for providing some theoretical guidance on seismic behavior, even provide some suggestions for seismic behavior of masonry wall in the whole region of Hubei Province and the middle and south of China to improve the seismic capacity building in towns and villages effectively and economically.
