The paper carried on the study for turbogenerator rotor winding interturn short-circuit fault detection based on the traditional detecting coil method through combination of wavelet transform theory and virtual instrument technology. First of all, the fault mechanism and the diagnosis mechanism of detecting coil method were analyzed. The ability of wavelet time-frequency decomposition was taken advantage of the analysis of inductive electromotive force signal, experiment results proved that the different scale energy change of wavelet decomposition, and the wavelet transform modulus maxima point to identify electromotive force signal peak depression .The detection coil method accuracy was improved. To diagnose the difficult problem of dynamic turn to turn short-circuit, design and build a dynamic test hardware, combined with the virtual instrument technology LabVIEW language. Design fault detection system of the dynamic rotor winding turn to turn short-circuit, the experiment proved that the system is fit for generator rotor winding dynamic turn to turn short-circuit fault detection.
