Sericite is a natural muscovite with thin and squama structure. It belongs to alkali metals and alkaline-earth metals. Sericite's distribution is quite abroad in our nation, such as Szechwan, Fujian, Anhwei, Shanxi, Sinkiang and so on. However, except several areas have higher content diggings like Fujian, Anhwei, sericite with low content have less empoldered and utilized in large regions. Even now, along with former mine resources become more and more pinch, and application of mica extends gradually towards many industries, more and more researchers focus their eyes on exploitations of new resources.Sericite distributes abroad in Shanxi province, and it mainly enriches in sericite schist and Phyllite. Because of low sericite content, people don't attach importance to these mine resources, and these rocks always bring on mountain coast or road surface breach, which can result in some danger and harm for people's life and manufacture. So according to long-term development of our society and resources are used in reason, making them as new sericite resources, not only recovering valuable mineral, but also changing harm to benefit.The paper aims at this concept to recover sericite from Phyllite and to study this process. It also discusses results and some causes in the experiment. The Phyllite is picked form Xixiang region in Shanxi province. We find out the sericite content is 29.9% by microscope and XRD, there are some other minerals in the rock, such as quartz,feldspar and chlorite. after fragmentation,gravity and flotation, we keep the whole solution is acid , choosing C11~13NH2(twelve-amine) as collector, amylum as inhibitor, and H2SO4 as regularity to control the PH between 2-3. The results show that when mine slurry concentration is 25%, collector dosage is 140g/t, after first flotation, the sericite content and recovery increase, but the purity of sericite is low. So we append inhibitor about 300g/t based on above experiment in second flotation, which gets sericite with 72.01%content, the recovery of sericite is 9.77%. The sericite content and recovery increase fast, and content of quartz,feldspar,chlorite falls obviously. So the second flotation is a good method for recovery of sericite from Phyllite.Because sericite has many kinds of fine physical chemistry properties and special samdwich, it has been applied many industries, for example, rubber, plastic, paint, ceramic, architectural material etc. At the same time, reports that sericite is used in thermal insulation material are very few. Architecture industry is developing fast in these years. It is inevitable trend that economizing energy, extending green materials for constructing harmonious society. Therefore, development of architecture heat insulation engineering has been one of important works for implementing construction of modernization. The purpose of choosing sericite as one of raw materials is that we want to use its low iron content, and meanwhile, its sheet framework like"sandwich"can obstruct the transfer of heat.The paper not only discusses the exploitation of sericite from Phyllite, but also carries through pilot study on application of sericite in thermal insulation material. We use plaster as colloid material, sericite and Fibrous brucite as primary raw materials to product an adiabatic material with nice properties on heat insulation. The results of SEM,thermal conductivity mechanics performance testing show that the material's thermal conductivity and apparent density fall when the sericite,Fibrous brucite and water increase, but the strength also decreases. We take out sample which plaster :sericite :fibrous brucite is 5:3:1.5 to test, itsλis 0.17W/(m·k), pressure-resistance strength is 7.2MPa , fold-resistance strength is 1.93MPa, apparent density is 850kg/m3 ,they all meet for the standard of architecture adiabatic material. The result in the lab proves that comparing other plaster thermal insulation materials, this compound material can arrive at the standard of congener production; and comparing other thermal insulation wall materials, it is a fine architecture adiabatic wall material.
