This paper mainly research on the electro-magnetic performance and mechanics problem of axial magnetic bearings.First, electro-magnetic field performance and electro-magnetic force of axial magnetic bearings are analyzed and calculated by finite element method(FEM) and ANSYS, the basic principle of electro-magnetic field distribution is concluded. Meanwhile, the rigidity and distortion of axial magnetic bearings'thrust plate are calculated and emulated by both dynamo theory and ANSYS software, then analyzed the relationship of the rigidity of the thrust plate and its distortion. At the base of the finite element analyze(FEA), it deduced the designing method of basic structural parameters and expatiated the principle of selecting these parameters. Basic characters of magnetic bearings are analyzed, including static working point and the largest electro-magnetic force etc. It designed and manufactured a set of axial magnetic bearings. Eventually, it realized static stable suspense of axial magnetic bearings, measured the distortion of the thrust plate. Research on the rigidity capability of the thrust plate is completed.This paper can convenient the configuration designing of axial magnetic bearings, reduce the cycle of the designing and manufacturing, and improve the working efficiency. Besides these, it can provide the foundation for selecting and verifing the rigidity of the thrust plate.
