The study of offshore platform is a big system engineering. The calculation of the environmental loads on platform is an important part of the study of platform, and it is valued in engineering. As a part of environmental loads, wind load is the main load which acts on the structure above the sea, and it has a vital function to the overturn of mobile platform. So studying of the wind load on offshore platform is of great significance to the security and economy of platform. The computational method of wind load given by classification board has not considered the influence factors such as shielding effect, wind angle, lift force and so on. The result got by this method is always conservative, sometimes it is much bigger than the result got by experiment. How to calculate the wind load on platform structure accurately without wind tunnel experiment is a worthy issue. In this paper, the two influence factors of shielding effect and shape factors in different wind angle are studied, consequently a more accurate computational method for calculating the wind load on offshore platform is obtained. A computer program is compiled which can be refereed in engineering application. Simultaneously the impulse wind load are calculated by harmony superposition method, and got the instant load on the platform within the period of wind action, and the results are statistically analyzed. In addition, the interference effects of combined prisms are studied using the CFD software—Fluent. Further, the wind load on offshore platform is also simulated by Fluent, the results are compared with the results calculated by the developed computer program in this paper, and get a good agreement between them. At last, the wind load on a real concept platform is separately calculated using the developed computer program and Fluent. In the event that the dip angle of platform is small, the two results agree with each other well, while in the event that the dip angle of platform is big, the results calculated by the computer program is bigger than the results simulated by Fluent at the mass of wind angles.
