As an AC-AC power converter, Matrix converter has been more and more attractive to power electronics industry due to its numerous merits, such as sinusoidal input/output waveforms, controllable input power factor, power regeneration and lack of bulky energy storage components. Recently, matrix converter still rest on the theory and experiment stage. This paper aims to design and implement experiment system of the space vector modulated matrix converter based on DSP, hoping to boost the development process of matrix converter as the next generation converter. This paper sets out from matrix converter topology, analyzes and deduces matrix converter control principles and modulation theories, and summarizes the switching combination functions based on space vector modulation. By adopting computer simulation method, the simulation model of MC control system is built. Control theory, input/output characteristics and the influences of input filter parameters to the system performances are studied through a great deal of simulation experiments, and phase shift problem of input current aroused by filter is compensated.Based on the researches of technical issues, such as the realization of four-quadrant switches, safety commutation, input filter design and protect circuits design, a scheme of MC control system is proposed, which is easy to be realized by software and hardware. By using the high performance 32bits DSP TMS320F2812 as main controller and Cyclone FPGA produced by Altera as coprocessor, the control strategy of space vector modulation, switch function synthesis and four step commutation are successfully transplanted into practical system. The holistic experiment system of matrix converter is set up, the input and output characteristics are tested by experiment. As a result, ideal experiment results are obtained, controllable input displacement factor are achieved, and from the experimental aspect, the feasibility of system design scheme is validated.
