The virtual Instruments has revolutionized the ways of measurement andautomation for engineers and scientists in industry, government, and academia.Leveraging PCs and commercial technologies, virtual instrumentation increasesproductivity and lowers costs for test, control and design applications througheasy-to-integrate software, and modular measurement and control hardware. It usesthe high performance of the modular hardware and highly effective nimble softwareto complete various kinds of test, survey and automated control.In order to realize accurate test and rapid gain of physical characteristics of circuitbreakers, and to provide reliable performance parameters for the research anddevelopment of circuit breakers, this paper has researched on the theory andimplement of testing for Circuit Breaker Physical characteristics based on virtualinstrument technology.This method makes it easy to auto-test Circuit Breaker Physical characteristicsaccurately and real-time, including on-line direct-viewing of the examination process,obtaining the real-time testing information, reading data measured from database tocompare different products, displaying the characteristic dynamic curve and so on.The main contents in this paper are as follows:1. Introduction of the intelligent automation examination technology based onvirtual instrument technology. And brief introduction about the circuit breakerdevelopment history and the main application domain in our country.2. Researched on how to realize autotest for Physical characteristics,such asdisplacement and force, based on virtual instrument technology.3. Hardware design: Established high accuracy servo-control transmission system,high quality force sensor and amplifier, high speed parallel data acquisition and thecontrol system based on PC.4. Software design: Using LabVIEW, we gained not only compact andintuitionistic interface, but also efficient real-time autotest function.5. Integrated software and hardware system, debugged and analyzed the datameasured.
