More and more attention has been paid to the affect of airstream excitation for stability of turbomachines. Air seal is a very important element and it is indispensable to the safe and economic operation of steam turbine. Profound study to the excitation caused by air seal is necessary and the result can affect the performance of steam turbine a lot. This paper introduce the principle and character of exciting force caused by labyrinth seals, also Fluent is used to simulate single cavity labyrinth seals in different structures and entry conditions. The separate angle of streamline from numerical simulation is used into two control volumes model, and the new model is used to analyse the effect of dynamic characteristic in labyrinth seals by different geometrical and physical parameters. It disclosure the arcanum of exciting force caused by labyrinth seals in theory and means to weaken the force.
