Intelligent structures are one sorts of the bionic structures which are consisted of the main structure, the intelligent materials and the control system. The intelligent materials include the sensors and the actuators. Beacause of the positive and inverse effect of the piezoelectric materials, they can be used both as sensors and actuators. Consquently, piezoelectric materials are applied abroad in the active vibration control systems of the intelligent structures.The technology of the active vibration control is just based on the positive and inverse effect of the sensors and actuators so as to reduce or decrease the vibration and control it well of the structures. It is the application of the control theory in the vibration engineering.The study of the control method is one of the most important ones.Firstly,based on the piezoelectric equations, the sensing and actuating abilities are particularly analyzed in this paper, and gained the sensing and actuating equations respectively. The mathematic model of a piezoelectric intelligent cantilever beam is set up and also do some mode analyses simultaneously by the application of the ANSYS software. Several methods of the vibration control are introduced particularly. The independent modal space control technique which is based on the Linear Quadratic Regulator(LQR)control method is derived, and the control unit is designed.At last, the emulational example in this paper has proved the validity of the method.
