The rivers play the significant role on the human survival and development of the social economy. Because of the water pollution and the wrong measures, ecological function of the rivers has degenerated. It limits the development of social economy seriously. The researches on the related engineering of ecological river construction are urgently needed to carry out.This paper has systematically conducted research on design methods of ecological river in the mountain area. The main research contents include: Firstly, the theory and related ecological principle of rivers ecosystem are summarized, the basic ideas of ecological river is elaborated, and design principles of ecological river in the mountain area are proposed; Secondly, the composition and the computational methods of river ecological water demand are studied, the concept of ecological flow is proposed, the computation physical model of ecological river flow is constructed, and the computational methods of ecological flow are proposed by the system, which meets the need of the ecological river course designed; Thirdly, the paper systematically proposes shape structural designed methods of ecological river in the mountain area, including structures river course winds the nature, constructs the pool-riffle sequence, the cross section design and the animals habitat design and so on. In order to satisfy irrigation demand of ecological river in the mountain area, pool-riffle design methods of ecological river course considering irrigation demand are proposed; Fourthly, the existence problems of traditional revetment are analyzed, the connotations and design principles of ecological revetment are proposed, and each kind of ecological revetment characteristic and its design methods are studied. In order to adapt the demand of selecting ecological revetment, a analytic hierarchy process(AHP) model of ecological revetment selection is established; Fifthly, the function of buffer, the methods how to definite the width of buffer, and the plant pattern designed methods of buffer are studied; Finally, design method proposed in this paper is well applied on the design of Baoshan River in Xuyi County. The research results enriched the design theories of ecological river in mountain area, and have obvious theoretical value and practical significance.
