China is the biggest ore import country of the world. During the constructing of the northeast old industrial basin, the ocean shipping requirement of energy sources and raw and processed materials such as ore and base oil is increasing. To fulfill this need, one hand, we can build a new professional ore port, the other hand, we can increasing the rate of using of the existing resource and improve the load and unload technique base on the original port. This article is aim at the latter.The Dayaowan port is the first large-scale professional ore fishing port that it can take over the large ore boat. In this article, in allusion to the second port, we use the Arena simulation tool to found a port load and unload technique system model, then research the technique by using the simulation and optimization.Firstly, the paper introduces the research work that ever done by other researchers, and describes the container terminal handling machinery and types of handling technology. Secondly, the paper discusses the discrete-event simulation method and simulation optimization theory. According to the development of the existing ore port, this paper creates a new technique. In succession, the paper analyses the process of operating system for Container Handling Technology, and builds a dynamic simulation model of ore port handling technology based on queuing theory. Furthermore, this paper applies the model in different scenarios, have got a reasonable result to terminal operators. Finally, in accordance with the cost of handling technology planning objectives, constraints and the corresponding empirical data parameters, the paper builds up a model using the simulation and optimization Opt Quest of Arena simulation software for simulation and optimization, and analyses simulation and optimization results.In conclusion, established model and research method in this paper is scientific, practical to some extent, and conclusions of this paper can be used in the decision of container terminals.
