Mingya Garden is one of the outstanding exemplary biotopes in Maoming, and began to be built in August, 2004. Its Zone F and Zone G have the same plans and the same numbers of storey with the maximal plane dimensions—113m*83m, and there are one storey for the understructures and nine stories for the superstructures. In the original design the basement (113m*83m) was an integrated structure. Considered the temperature stresses and the water proof, on the original drawings two 800mm post-poured strips were set up; however the project was interrupted by the immigration delayed when the long border of the basements was constructed in halves in Zone F and G, and the position of interruption was laid out exactly at the connections between the main building and the basements, where it was at the end of the beams of the frames, and where the shears and moments were also big, and there were no interrupted positions in the original drawings. A complex problem was arisen from the constructional interruption that how to construct the connections could make the building integrated and good seismic behavior. The connections were different from the connections between the other high-rising main buildings and the annex, which may adopt the post-poured strips to avoid setting up the settlement joints, and the connections of the post-poured settlement strips were reinforced intentionally, and the connections were controlled actively; however in this project the connections were passively interrupted by the constructional condition, and the positions were not designed in advance according to the drawings, the connections were controlled passively, and the reinforcements in the connections need to adopt the technique of post installed anchorage. In this paper the specificity of the project were fully considered. With detailed analysis of the mechanical properties of the connections, the connections were adopted the composite method of the reinforcements and post-poured strip. According to the authorized official data monitored the settlement of the built building, the differences of the settlements between the old and the new buildings were obtained, then they were used to compute the internal forces, finally the reinforcements were obtained. The checking computations were done for the seismic behavior of the strengthened members. When the connections were constructed, the 800mm post-poured strips were reserved, they were not only convenient for the construction but also counteracted the effects arisen from the different settlements between the new and the old buildings. After the treatments, the connections met the requirements of the former designs for the structural integration and the seismic behavior.
