For energy conservation and environment protection, the absorption chillers have been widely used. However the COP (coefficient of performance) of conventional ammonia-water absorption refrigeration system is relatively smaller because of its complicated system, bulky equipment, and more steel consumption. In order to overcome the defects of the ammonia-water absorption refrigeration system and improve its COP, we need to extend the advanced absorption cycle system and use plat type heat exchanger.In this thesis, the detailed theoretical analysis for the intermediate pressure double effect cycle is carried out. Generally, the traditional ammonia-water double effective cycle use heat released from the condenser, where pressure is very high. However, in the intermediate pressure double effect cycle, the absorption heat is used to generate the refrigerant vapor, therefore the high pressure can be kept at the same level as the single effect cycle.Calculation software of the intermediate pressure double effect cycle was programmed. By analyze the intermediate pressure double effect cycle, the performance change trend of the intermediate pressure double effect cycle under different temperature working condition was obtained, which will guide the optimization design analysis of the intermediate pressure double effect cycle. Moreover, experiments of heat transfer performance for plat heat exchangers were conducted, and the features of two plat heat exchangers were compared and discussed.
