3D complex structure is the structure type which required by the architectural function and figuration. Because of the irregularity in the floor plan and elevation, the structure always has some mechanical disadvantages, such as abrupt stiffness change and stress concentration. Thus, an accurate time-history analysis with 3D plastic finite element model is necessary to obtain the structure's response to earthquake, and confirm the structure's security and reliability. With the instance of the control center building of Dadu River power station, the time-history analysis of the structure has completed with finite element analysis software—ANSYS. The contents as follows:(1) The mechanical characters of 3D complex structure is introduced, and dynamic analysis to the structure is done by ANSYS.(2) Three analysis methods, including response spectrum method, time-history analysis and random vibration, for the response of 3D complex structure to the earthquake are compared, and the time-history analysis is selected based on the specialness of this title.(3) Three finite element types, beam44, shell181 & link8, are used in the building's finite element model. And model analysis and time-history analysis with minor earthquake is done, and the result is reasonable.(4) 3D nonlinear constitutive model is obtained by simplifying the general beam method. The building's beam and column elements are simulated by beam189 element by which the material nonlinearity and geometric nonlinearity are considered, and elastic-plastic time-history analysis is completed under the great earthquake.
