With the development of national economic, the axial fans are more widely used. Besides the conventional industry, the demands of axial fans are also intense in the new application area, such as highrise buildings, subway, tunnel, etc.The principle of swept blade is widely applied to the design of axial fans. According to theory, designed fans have the merits of large flux, high pressure, low noise, energy saving and run steadily. But the complete blade shaping equations and aerodynamic equations are not put forth, the theory is greatly limited in practical application.This paper proposed a new method for the swept blade shaping of axial fan firstly. Based on shaped blade, the relationship between fan's structure and aerodynamic parameters are established, and the formulas for calculation of aerodynamic parameters are derived. So this new method brings convenience to the design of axial fan and can solve both direct problem and inverse problem.According to the method mentioned above, this paper developed a CAD system of axial fan. With this system we can carry out the shaping design, aerodynamic computation and performance test of axial fans quickly and effectively.This method and software system is utilized in the project cases. From the cited cases, the design results meet the performance requirements which are set in advance, and the computational results of fan's aerodynamic characteristics also agree well with testing results. So we can conclude that the method proposed in this paper has a good reliability and accuracy.
