Spatial light modulation is a kind of technique of high integration. It is usually figured out as using multiple methods to process the transfer condition of light spatially and is widely used. On behalf of Pockels effect of electro-optic crystals, or Kerr effect, various optical addressed spatial light modulator can be developed to the realize electrically driven spatial light modulation, so as to control such transfer conditions as converging ,diverging ,defecting and transferring. Optical addressing modulator overtakes other kind of electronic computer in such field as compute, optical interconnect communication and light memory, which requires devices of considerable corresponding speed and high precision.In those books of electro-optics effect, BSO crystal material possesses the advantage of low driving voltage, wide modulating rage etc,and take care of superiorly. Now, people are trying to use various methods, including the electro-optics effect of BSO, to modulate the wavefront of light or modulate its phase. In this field, swing modulation by the polarize device were designed, this method was the base of our spatial light modulator.In this paper, in the course of studying the physical principles of electro-optics effect of BSO, the characteristic of BSO and( the planar electric field image )is analyzed thoroughly on the based of swing modulate theory. On this condition, the controllable regulated high voltage power supplies was designed. From using this electrical source, the capability of the spatial light modulator was measured in planar image processing application. In this paper, the functions and structures of device, the material of main part and the electrical source and their functions and characters were also presented. After the spatial light modulator was made by the choice material, the expected optic purpose of device designing is validated. And, the influence from each physical factor on optical result turns out in this course, the best working point was made too. It can bring principle reference to the further design and apply of device. According to the result of examination, when using this spatial light modulator steer under a driving voltage of 2100 volt, and made the write light's intensity in 4.3μw , the exposure time was 4 sec, in this case ,the image can be clearly readout by the He-Ne laser in intensity of 1.24μw .Comparing with those former corresponding designing, this spatial light modulator have better resolving power and sensitivity. The best character of this electrical source is that it is easy to control with digital signal. Thus, it ensures pretty work efficiency and decreases the processing difficulty. Accordingly, the value of this design is apparent. It brings the utilization of the BSO electro-optic modulate technique a new step.
