Robust optimization is a kind of valid design method that improves the product performance, combining robust and optimization, it adjusts name values of design variables and controls its deviation to promise robustness of the optimization solution. Robust optimization includes: (1)selecting the random factor and turning with quantity; (2)uncertainty analysis; (3)applying results of uncertainty analysis in robust optimization models.This paper leads robust optimization into aircraft design realm, discusses an approach of aerodynamic shape robust optimization combining CAD / CFD and surrogate models. Application of surrogate models can reduce uncertainty calculation availably. The step of this method is: selecting variables and their rang, creating experiment points, establishing parameter models, calculating CFD models, choosing aerodynamic characteristics, establishing surrogate models and setting optimization models. Results of study indicates that the method can attain the design target under limited amount of calculation and lower the sensitivity of results to design variables.Double-wing micro air vehicles adopts the aerodynamic shape: no tail , only wings and vertical tail placing in wing. This paper uses above-mentioned methods to design double-wing MAV aerodynamic shapes with normal and robust optimization. Results shows robust optimization shapes lost some aerodynamic performance but become more steady.
