As the driving engine of artificial heart, the performance and size of the motor determines the performance and volumn of artificial heart. Over half centuary's research and development, artificial heart has attained clinical requirments such as blood compatibility, transplantability and durability etc.with the continuous development of artificial heart research progress, the drive motor is required to be of high efficiency, small size, light weight and other characteristics.At the same time, requirements to artificial heart motor driven system are further enhanced, such as the use of no sensor EMF control, cyclical changes in the electrical rotational speed for pulsate origin, and so on. Thus traditional ways to design motor and drive system can no longer meet the needs of development.To better clarify the artificial heart design of the driving motor and control system, this article first detailed motor magnetic circuit system, classical design methods and formula of motor drive. Meanwhile, with the adoption of modern magnetic field and magnetic circuit integrated design methods, finite element software is used for iron core and gap magnetic field calculation. The features of fast traditional magnetic circuit calculation and direct high-precision magnetic field calculation greatly enhance the precision of magnetic circuit design and calculation, which ensures the design and production of the required artificial heart motor driver. On the other hand, for drive control part, after analyzing and comparing different controllers, Microlinear Company monolithic integrated controller ML4428 is designated to take the control chip for the artificial heart controller. Through reaction control principle and method, the exterior electric circuit of the chip can be optimizedly designed, which realize the adjustable scope of the great ratio rotational speed required by the pulsating flow output.
