Ma Bian Zhou Dolphin Berth of CSPC Nanhai Petrochemicals Project is an oil terminal with a capacity of 150,000t. The length of the berth is 412m. The berth consists of one working platform, one auxiliary platform, 2 breasting dolphins, 4 mooring dolphins and a 48-meter-long service berth. For the berth is far away from the shore, island berth is applied. The imported material will be transported through a submarine pipeline with a length of 10km from the Ma Bian Zhou jetty to the storage tank of CSPC United Chemical Plant.Based on the jetty works on Ma Bian Zhou Dolphin Berth, it systematically analyzes and summarizes the design and construction of rock-socketed tubular steel pile that is used on Ma Bian Zhou Dolphin Berths from such aspects as its analysis study, construction design, construction techniques difficulties in construction and the solutions.In the project region, the rock surface lies shallow, covered with a certain thick layer of super-stratum. Its component material is almost sandy soil and cohesive soil. Therefore, it processes the characteristics of good soil index of mechanical property. According to the wave condition and geological condition, the piled foundation is proposed in design. However, confined by the geological condition, most piles shall be rock-socketed.Combined with successful examples for rock-socketed piles in harbor engineering in our country in the recent years, the article analyzes the technical feasibility of socketed steel pile used in Ma Bian Zhou Dolphin Berth. By detailed analysis and calculation of quay structure, piled foundation and rock-socketed steel pile, the socketed type and socketed length of piles are determined, and related technical requirements in construction are proposed.The difficulties found in the construction of socketed steel pile in Ma Bian Zhou Dolphin Berth are summed up, and related solutions and quality control scheme of the work are proposed. The final testing conclusions indicate that the solutions proposed in the construction could effectively guarantee the construction quality of socketed steel pile.
