The wheel/rail wear is worsening with the increasing of the railway transportation burden,and the applying of more and more heavy trucks and large power locomotives.Not only the straight rail wear is increasing, but also the rail side wear is extending from small radius curves to larger ones at the same time.Since the very large number and the more heavy axle-load, the freight cars make worse wheel/rail wear,Particularly on the heavy lines and coal lines. Otherwise, The wheel/rail wear has been a severe problem needing to be solved.Solving the conflict between curving performance and hunting stability is always a hard work for along time in the fields of vehicle system dynamics. Using the conventional bogies can not satisfy the both requests in the same time. The radial bogie, which not only meets the request to of curving performance but also improves the hunting stability effectively, reduces the attack angle, wear and dynamic force of wheel/rail efficiently. Developing radial bogie make great contributions to advance the transport ability of railway, reach to the aim of the high speed and heavy load in china.In this paper , the dynamic model of sub-frame radial bogies are established on the base of creep steering mechanics analysis, the design principle of radial bogie is discussed briefly too. According to the character of three-piece bogie feight car system, the nonlinear dynamic simulation models of self-steeing bogie, force radial bogie and cross-braced bogie are set up by using multi-body dynamics software package SIMPACK. The dynamic behavior of radial bogie such as lateral stability, ride quality, security on the partial inequality track and interacting between wheel/rail are researched. The trend of radial tread wear on the straight track in the heavy load condition, the effect of bogie structure and suspension parameter to the wheel/rail curve wear are analysed by using multiform wear assess index and comparing with the traditional bogie, in order to reseach the wear mechanics and find out the chief influencing factors of the steering bogie wear. Otherwise, the relationship along rail side cutting andseveral main track parameters on curves and wear reducing technical measures, such as radiusi superelevation, gauge, rail inclinations are calculated, and get some conclusions to supply theory reference to the curves parameters setting.
