As a new construction technology, extrusion-sidewall has already been successfully used in several projects in china, such as Gongboxia, Shuibuya and so on. In combination with Shuibuya concrete face rock-fill dam, Mechanism, numerical modeling method of extrusion-sidewall and its influence on CFRD deformation are researched in the paper, including following contents:(1) Computation module of rock, interface and peripheral joint of CFRD are analyzed. Duncan E-B model and Goodman joint element of zero thickness are reasonably chosen as interface computation module of rock, face plate and extrusion-sidewall.(2) Basic principle of damage mechanics is discussed and introduced to numerical simulation of extrusion-sidewall of CFRD. That is to say, nonlinear elastic damage model is used to simulate extrusion-sidewall.(3) Based on 3-D finite element program —TSDA, subprogram about numeric analysis of extrusion-sidewall damage model was written, so 3-D finite element analysis on CFRD and 3-D damage analysis on extrusion-sidewall are attained.(4) 3-D numeric model of Shuibuya is created and 3-D finite element numeric analysis is done. The calculation results of dam deformation and damage value of extrusion-sidewall are compared to measured value and the rationality of computation model and feasibility of simulation method are verified.The achievements of this subject will provide theoretical evidence of the application of extrusion-sidewall and technical support for the design of CFRD. It also has much practical value and great reference value for the application of extrusion-sidewall in related engineerings.
