Vehicle noise is the main element of the traffic noise in the city, whichbadly influences the normal life of man. Moreover, induction noise is a majorsource, and the bellow is mounted between the air filter and engine to reduce thenoise. It has some theoretic and practical meaning that how to designstructurally logical bellow in order to ensure the noise reduction.FEM is the main method of the current method in bellow designing. It cansimulation the static and dynamic characteristic nicely and reliably, both canprocess structural optimization, which is a very effective method. This paper applies FEM, taking a U-shaped bellow for example, toestablish the finite element model, and carry through modal analysis to simulateits natural frequency and vibration mode with different parameters. At the sametime, based on the influences the structural parameters on the capabilities of thebellow, it takes the wave height, the thickness and wave hollow curve radius fordesigning variable, the every order natural frequency for objective function, andutilizes the optimization module to optimize the structure. In the case ofsatisfying the intensity, the natural frequency of the optimized model is best. Atlast, in order to simulate the real vibration characteristic of the bellow under theactual working situation, the basic theory of fluid-structure is used to analyze thesystem frequency under the air, which makes insurance to the next analysis andprovides realistic warranty in the induction noise reduction.
