The Vernacular And Ecological Architecture

In order to solve the problem of the contradiction between economic growth and environment protection, the theory of the sustainable development strategy has been put forward. Being an active reaction to the sustainable development strategy, ecological architecture is developing quickly. It is also a concrete reflection of the sustainable development strategy in the architecture field and become the focus point.Because most architecture design now does not pay more attention to vernacular elements and ecological elements such as practices, climate, resources, environment and so on, the author of the article selects the vernacular and ecological architecture as the research topic. As Mr. Wu said that it is a very profound try to connect ecological architecture with traditional and vernacular architecture because it can be a quest in the theory to create the native ecological architecture.The article comprises four parts. The first part is to state the ecological architecture's theory and experience comprehensively;the second part is to state the value of vernacular idea in the ecological architecture's design from two aspects of culture and technique and to analyze further the current circumstances of architecture and the way of architecture's development for future;the third part is to state simply the theory and practices of the contemporary vernacular and ecological architecture's design;the last part is to state the beautiful perspective of vernacular and ecological architecture in the future.We can say this research topic will not only benefit the ecological architecture's further research and development, but also be good to enhance our knowledge level to traditional and vernacular architecture. Moreover, it will provide a fully new sight about how to inherit and create the native culture of architecture.
