| The prestressed concrete pipe pile (PC pile) has been applied widely in the construction of highway, civil architecture, haven, and sea embankment etc. For it not only diminishes the settlement of foundation efficiently but also enhances the bearing capacity of foundation, PC pile composite foundation will be applied more and more. This paper analyzed the influencing factor of bearing behavior and settlement of PC pile composite foundation by field test and FEM. Furthermore based on the former study idea of other piles, the calculation method of settlement and stress ratio between pile and soil was conducted and discussed.First of all, based on the field test in the expressway connected to the bridge of gulf of Hangzhou, the pore pressure, settlement of surface and inner layer, horizontal displacement, stress on the top of pile and soil, and etc were observed. Through the analysis of the observation results, this paper analyzed the rule of stress ratio and settlement of PC composite foundation under road loading and led to that the effect of treatment is favorable.Subsequently FEM is used to analyze the behavior of PC pile composite foundation by ABAQUS including bearing behavior and characteristic of settlement. The result of analysis is coherent with the outcome of field test. Then, the factors, such as the length of pile, the distance of pile, and the stiffness of cushion are changed in the analysis. The result revealed the rule of stress ratio and settlement in different circumstance that offered basis for theoretical analysis.Finally, based on the former study idea of other pile composite foundation, the calculation of stress ratio and composite modulus was conducted according to the result of FEM analysis. Furthermore, the calculating method of settlement of PC pile composite foundation was discussed based on the former theory of settlement of composite foundation. It is proved that the method is practicable and applicable in the field by a practical project.
