Technology of surface development is very important in CAD research. This paper deals with the optimal development of helicoids surface of the cropper, with the operation of Pro / Toolkit toolbox from Pro / E. The paper studies the helicoids surface development technology in the relevant bases such as the information from 3-dimesion model, mesh modeling, mesh developing and the developing model.The major works of this paper include the following aspects: Chapter 1 gives a review of the researches on curved surfaces development. The development methods are classified based on the strategies adopted.Chapter 2 introduces the tool of Pro/Toolkit and three modules of the approximate development of straight grained Helicoids: parameter design module of Helicoids, mesh division module of Helicoids and the developing model establish module. The establishment of the three modules and the correlative technology are explained detailedly in the next three chapters.With the tool of Pro /Toolkit, chapter 3 presents the establishment course of parameter design module. 3-dimesion model will be updated automaticly, when the value of parameter of the current model is modified. The mesh division of the current model is former disposal. Chapter 4 proposes the information from the times of division for model, the mesh data and the dialog box.The mapping problem of triangular crunodes is resolved based on the same area in the Chapter 5. The developing view can be gained when the boundary crunodes are connected by the Spline. Furthermore, the developing model is created with the technology of model feature of Pro/Toolkit.Finally, conclusion is drawn from this dissertation with recommendation for future research in chapter 6.
