Hydrodynamic transmission is the kind of transmission which mainly makes use of the liquid kinetic energy, and it actually is a set of centrifugal pump-turbine system. As the active part, the centrifugal pump drives the liquid to revolve. The high-speed liquid leaving from centrifugal pump pushes the turbine to revolve, so the liquid kinetic energy has been converted into the machine energy and the deliver of energy has been carried out. It usually is divided into three kinds including coupling, torque converter and mechanical torque converter. Currently, hydrodynamic transmission more and more has been applied in military affairs industry and many kinds of civil industry, so it has great meaning for the development of the national economy to increase the efficiency of hydrodynamic transmission components. However, there is great disparity between our country and foreign advanced countries at the design and manufacture level of the hydrodynamic transmission components. Not only the little species, the low quantity, the bad function and the narrow scope of application, but also it is very difficult to accurately analysis the inner fluxion conditions of each component in the liquid medium with the experiment method or the theory method. Torque converter is a turbine machine with many leaf's slice. It is constituted by pump, turbine and idler pulley, and the inner flow ways is close. The liquid makes complicated three-dimensional, viscid, incompressible and torrential fluid in the flow ways. Aiming at these situations, and combined the project 'the modern design method of the three-dimensional flow of hydrodynamic transmission'belonged to the 'Jilin University Creative Fund'and the project 'The theory study of modern design method on the torque converter'belonged to 'national natural science fund', The number analysis and the experiment research of the inner flow field of torque converter ZFW305 on the cross-country vehicle have been carried out in this paper. While experiment research is being done, the advanced experiment method called Laser Doppler Anemometer (LDA) has been applied. That method belongs to the untouched measurement, having many advantages that other methods not have. The frequency motion of Doppler keeps the strict linear relation with the fluid speed, and has nothing to do with the category, appearance (temperature, pressure, density etc.) of the fluid, and can be used for the flow measurement of which has high temperature, high pressure, multiphase flow or the chemical reaction of physics-chemistry etc. The measurement has many virtues including the high accuracy of measuring the speed which can attain 2% ~2.5%, the high resolving power in space which can measure the current velocity in the very small physical volume, such as the speed distribute about the attaching face layer of the near tube wall in field, the wide scope of measuring the speed and the quickly dynamic respond .It is a valid method that studies the swift flow and measures the pulsation speed. The method has the intelligent degree of good direction, and can carry on multidimensional.
