Automotive industry is a technology-intensive and matured industry; it is a good carrier for many leading techniques. Also we know that the product development is the kernel of automotive technology. With more than ten years'improvement, the improvement of integrated technology has a large speed and keeps along with the international advancement. The technique of computer and the technique of information have been used in automotive design and development wider and wider. From "throwing off the T-square"to 3D digital design, we have stepped into a new area in new product development process. Today CAE is being used in the design of body structure in many ways. The finite element analysis technique is becoming the main way for the design of body structure, It promote the compete of product, shorten the exploitation cycle of product , low exploitation expense . In the chapter one, the paper introduce the characteristic of modern body design, and CAE apply in the body design .the finite is a basis method in body design. In the chapter two, the paper reviews the development of the finite element analysis, some basic theories and concepts about the finite element analysis were introduced. There are some summarizes, such as how does the person use the finite element analysis in body structure design? What is the basic program in body design?
