This dissertation is based on the TONG-HUANG expressway project. To be specificis the WUSHI tunnel and the FUXI double-arch tunnel projects. This dissertation figuresout the characteristic of the force and distortion of the every stage during the WUSHItunnel construction process where it crosses the zone of fracture. The paper also studiesthe characteristic of the force and distortion field of each stage during the FUXIdouble-arch tunnel construction process when it crosses the soft rock zone. By means ofsite investigation, survey and spot inspection, it analyzes the stability of the wall rock. Firstly, this dissertation studies the research actuality of expressway tunnels' stabilityboth theoretically and experimentally. Further more the paper gives out and illustrates thespecific affect factors. Secondly, the dissertation comes up with a new method of modeling in the zone offracture by the example of the WUSHI tunnel project. It also gives a way that how toselect the appropriate rock parameters of fracture zone in FEM modeling. Through theFEM calculation results and the onsite inspection, we can figure out whether the rockwall is stable or not and whether the quality of the rock wall is sound or not. The wholetunnel building processes in the zone of fracture has been simulated in this paper. Somesuggestions about how to consolidate the rock wall has been given after the analysis. Thirdly, the development of the double-arch tunnels and the construction methodshas been studied thoroughly, in particular the tunnel building in the soft rock zone. Theway of the tunnel's section design, tunnel's entrance, consolidating structure, water-proofand water drainage have been expatiated in the dissertation. Also the forces between thesupporting of rock wall and the consolidating structure has been theoretically studied. Finally, the dissertation combined the FUXI double-arch tunnel project andinvestigated the construction technics of double-arch tunnel home and abroad,summarized many experiences of the success and failure. The construction technics andthe side effects have been studied, and at the same time, a reasonable construction methodhas been given to the tunnels in the TONG-HUANG expressway based on the data study.It studies the characteristic of the force and distortion field of each stage during the FUXIdouble-arch tunnel construction process when it crosses the soft rock zone. Data has beencollected by many means such as spot Monitoring, tracking construction information,distortion measurement, force measurement etc. This dissertation is combined with the project tightly and it focuses on the researchto the stability of rock walls. It is of high reference value and reality signification to guildand to feed back the tunnel construction.
