Research Of The Design For Outdoor Environment Of Residential Areas In Southern China

As the free market economy rapidly develops in China, the surrounding condition is getting more and more important in residential areas constructed to meet market need. In the past, residents could be satisfied with place to shelter, while today, they, hoping to lead a high quality life, have lots of new concepts, ideas and requirements on living condition. Modern man needs a naturally and humanely beautified housing condition, which is a hot topic that is greatly considered in the present housing design and construction.Environment of a residential area is particularly significant, since it is the condition for space existence and resource of space characters. Various environmental elements influence our senses, allowing us to feel and understand them. To master characteristics and principles of residential environment help us enjoy life in comfortable surroundings.This paper, concerning the geographic condition of Southern China, discusses and explores varied residing environmental elements by analyzing a number of typical examples, and reaches reasonable conclusions, proposes some basic rules and principles for designing residing surroundings.
