In China soil and water loss is a very important problem, especially at the loess region in northwest. Aiming at this problem, the thesis introduces a water sediment model. The model bases on the comparability of water movement and sediment movement. It has two parts. One is about the rainfall and flood concentration. The other is about sediment and the sand concentration. These two parts affect each other and they form the conceptual model of water and soil coupled simulation in loess region.To validate the model, the thesis selects the Hejiapo basin in Gansu province as a example. There is 20 floods in Hejiapo basin which are calculated to simulate the flood course and the sand course. The effect of simulation is good. So it shows that this model is feasible and applied and accurate.There is a problem about amount of precipitation which is averaged in the example of Hejiapo basin. So the thesis selects 54 floods in four small basins in Yellow river to discuss this problem. To every basin, different period of time is selected to calculate the soil yield. The results show that period of time has influence to calculation. And the thesis also analyses the relation between the period of time and some parameters.All the results indicate the conceptual model of water and soil coupled simulation in loess region is good and it can be used in practical.
