At the present time, circuit and magnetic path concentration parameter method is widely used in domestic electric machine design. Because of its low calculating accuracy, it cannot fulfill the requirements of modern electric machine design. Mutually related field-circuit algorithm is based on electromagnetic field analysis, and many coarse assumptions and empirical formulas are avoided. Therefore, the calculating accuracy and reliability are higher than that of conventional method. Mutually related field-circuit algorithm can be used in analysis and calculation of steady-state parameters and performance of electric machine, then the design level of salient-pole synchronous machine in our country will be improved effectively.Recent situation and development tendency of SPSM electromagnetic analysis is discussed, and a brief summary of phylogeny, principle and appliance of mutually related field-circuit algorithm and optimization method is given in this paper. Compared with conventional method, the result is more accurate when mutually related field-circuit algorithm is adopted to calculate parameter and performance of synchronous machine. The mathematical model based on mutually related field-circuit algorithm can be used to analyze steady-state electromagnetic process of SPSM taking into account a real core's double-slotting and rotor salient poles, a real winding structure, a real saturation of core elements because of main field and leakage fields and a mutual displacement of stator and rotor. When this model is used to calculate parameters and performance of SPSM, less processing time and memory are needed.During the process of electric machine design, a large amount of time and human resources will be saved and calculating period can be shorten when optimization method is applied. The mathematical model, standard form and sortingprocess of optimization method are discussed and a mathematical model for salient-pole synchronous machine is created in this paper. Self-adaptative simulated annealing is selected as optimization method for this thesis. Compared with the universal one, self-adaptative simulated annealing needs much less calculating time. Mixing optimization scheme enables the probe points to enter the area where the global optimization point locates. In this area, direct searching method is adopted and the searching process can converge at optimization point rapidly.The electromagnetic calculating program grounded on mutually related field-circuit algorithm consists of electromagnetic calculation module, optimization module and the interface module. Both conventional method and mutually related field-circuit algorithm can be used to calculate and analyze parameter and performance of synchronous electric machine. Multi-group of characteristic calculating results can be obtained using mutually related field-circuit algorithm, thus users can customize their individual output results with more selections. In the end, calculating examples of generator and motor are showed respectively, and a motor calculating result is optimized and all results are analyzed in detail.
