Electromagnetic nondestructive testing on the quality of steel has been studied for many years and acquired a great deal of achievements. However there are many problems in the testing of hardness and cracks, and mess problem of work pieces. For example the traditional nondestructive testing is difficult for the hardness of gearwheel roughcast, and the traditional artificial test means is comparative slowly.To settle the above problems, we test the hardness of the gearwheel by the meanings of artificial neural network. Neural network has self studying ability and adaptability. And it is a superior and for data processing which can automatically study the physical rule concealed in the data detected.Communication between PC and 51 single-chip-computer in Visual Basic desired in this paper use VB communication control and RS-232C due to the nondestructive testing instrument and neural network are not on line. A device include of a data acquisition and processing for nondestructive testing is constructed by single-chip-microcomputer and artificial neural network. The data acquired is transmitted to PC in the artificial neural network software procedure and show the result. The result of the test is satisfying.
