Study On Some Main Issues Of Chinese Metropolitan Suburban Transportation System

With the rapid development of social economy, the exchanging phenomena between urban and suburban reveals gradually. A number of metropolitans select clustered development pattern, and even form "metropolitan circle" centering on metropolitan cities and consisting of some satellitic counties. Suburban transportation system plays restrictive and oriental role in the development of metroplitan cluster or circle, so the study on metropolitan suburban transportation system has theoretical and practical significance.Investigating on metropolitan suburban transportation and referring to successful experience abroad, the article, oriented on system engineering, adopts both qualitative and quantitative methods and presents sustainable suburban transportation mode adaptable to our situation, which provides urban economic and social development with theoretical support. The context includes the following:(1) According to the goal of sustainable development, the features of different travel patterns, which possibly participating in suburban transportation, are analyzed. Among them several patterns suitable for suburban transportation demand characteristics are selected as its component;(2) Environmental influnce and energy consumption evaluation methods of suburban transportation sub-system are studied, mainly focusing on traffic noise assessment under traffic planning scheme. Good result exemplified the evaluation.(3) In order to realize high efficiency and low cost operation of rail transit sub-system within suburban transportation, relative problems are investigated, including velocity target value selection, the establishment of reasonable interval, rail transit operational organization optimization, the adaption of railway pivot joining in suburban transportation, and the harmony between comprehensive transferring pivot and suburban transportation system etc.(4) Many technical features of travel pattern are introduced into utility function and travel pattern selection is analyzed adopting multi-target decisionmodel, correspondingly putting forward the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) strategy which orients cost and land use to boost passenger volume choosing public transit;(5) Based on the above, the article complements the classic "four phases method" in the light of the goal of sustainable development of suburban transportation system and presents the foundamental frame of sustainable traffic planning.
