With the rapid progress of china's economy, the expressway has developed very quickly as a member of basic construction in our country. With a rate of about 2000 km/y, the total mileage of the built expressway has been up to more than 22,500km by the end of 2002, which is the second in the world and exceeds the third one-Canada greatly. However, there are much silt, silt clay, and silt-and-sand bed in the highway grounds of many provinces and cities. If expressways are built on these grounds without improvement or managed improvement, the quality of roads will fall even destroy. So it has become a very important task to strengthen the research on the improvement of expressway soft ground.There're many decision problem in the study of expressway's ground improvement. Owing to various influential factors, a great deal of calculation and imperfect design theory, experience always plays an important part in the technical decision of ground improvement. Therefore, how to make the technical decision of ground improvement more scientific and practicability becomes very important.Based on project practice of expressway ground improvement in recent years, and theoretically based on fuzzy mathematics, computer, technology, comprehensive evaluate, decision analysis and so on, and combined with the latest developments of geo-technique and soil mechanics, it studies the problem of expressway ground improvement decision, and take more stress on discussing the fuzzy decision model on the ground improvement of expressway, explores helpfully scientificalization of decision of expressway ground improvement. According to the research contents and sequences of chapters and sections, this abstract introduces concisely as follows:1. It expresses briefly the purpose and significance of the article, and introduces comprehensively present research situation, existing problems and research prospect of ground improvement. Then, it puts forward researchsubject and chief contents of this paper.2. It uses the MATLAB-FIS for the first time to create the fuzzy decision model on the ground improvement of expressway. It also analyses the influential factors of ground improvement, finds out the key factors, and makes the filling height, thickness of soft soil and the original void-ratio as the input parameters of decision model. Then, their subject functions are formed according to the clearing up and the statistics of many practical data. Finally the fuzzy inference principle is founded based on many experiments. The model carried out the practical value combining with the material engineering.3. The problem of choosing method in the same improvement administrative level (such as deep improvement) is mainly resolved in Chapter 4; some of its influential factors can carry on quantitative analysis, however, some have to proceed qualitative analysis. These factors relate mutually, restrain mutually and constitute a complex system. This research integrates fuzzy matrix theory and analytic hierarchy process and sets up a multi-layer fuzzy decision model. By using this model, it analyses an example and gains a satisfying result.4. The technical decision of ground improvement is a multi-object fuzzy mathematics programming problem. Fuzzy similar preferred ratio decision method can solve this problem and take the best ground improvement project.
