With the proceeding of urbanization, small towns in China are unexceptionably faced with the problem of Old Town Renewal. The status quo of small town construction, as well as the development of market-oriented economy, determines its "multi-stories, high-density" renewal pattern. Based on the discovery practice on Pingyang County, Wenzhou City, this article suggests a "multi-stories, high-density" pattern which conforms to the reality of our nation's small towns and the market economy background. This pattern tends to integrate organically the improvement of small town space with the acceleration of urban renewal with the utilization of market economy, hence to promote reconstruction, improve residents' living standard, and to develop urban economy as well. The significance of this research exists in: old district dwellers would improve living standard; market-oriented economy system would support this renewal action, thus leads to a realization of benign circle. This article includes six sections.
