As a new type magnetic transmission mechanism, Non-contact Permanent Magnetic Gear has special function that can transmit torque and power to closed area by magnetic field coupling. There is no physical contact between driver gear and passive gear of this transmission mechanism.One of the important performance values of Non-contact Permanent Magnetic Gear is the value of torque and change when it works. The maximum transmittable torque is the most important parameter that illuminates ability of Non-contact Permanent Magnetic Gear transmission mechanism. There are many parameters that they influence the maximum transmittable torque, such as the number of poles, the rate of length and diameter, gap and magnetic material etc.The software, for electromagnetic Finite Element Analysis, is used for the characteristic analysis. To perform a parametric study, the important design variables related to the permanent magnet are selected, and then the influence of the design parameters on the magnetic torque performances is investigated. At last, A new Skew Permanent Magnetic Gear is designed. Based on these results, the magnet gear is designed and verified by comparing the analysis result with the experimental data.
