For the Mu1ti--Beam Swath Bathymeter, array miniaturization wi thwide covering width has cause peop1e's more attention. 1n thi s paperwe bring forward a new p1an for array miniaturization using the p1anephase--contro11ed array can achieve both large covering width andnarrow beamwidth. In this paper, we use FFT beam--form technique to increase the numberof beams and bearing deviation indicator (BDI) and sp1 it--aperturecorre1ation a1gorithms are used to estimate the time of arrival(T0A) and direction of arriva1 (D0A). We use )' sing1e--scattered mode1"to simu1ate the seabed reverberation signa1 and simu1ate thesp1it--aperture a1gorithm by the data of simu1ation signa1. Aconc1usion can be drawn that these algorithms has better preci si on andfitting for the multi--beam swath bathymeter system better on thecondition of 1arge beam ang1e, and can improve the precision of edgebeams in non--specu1ar seabed region. This paper also ana1yzes the sidescan mapping princip1e of themu1ti--beam bathymeter, and process the avai 1ab1e data with sidescanmapping method to achieve the sidescan imagery represented by thereverberation strength.
