With the development of economy, the application of air conditioning has been bud out into popularity. In almost all new buildings and many remodeled old buildings air conditioning systems are installed. So the energy conservation of the air- conditioning system has become the hot topic of the government, professional bodies and engineers. More and more buildings adopted the AAERE (air-to-air energy recovery equipment) and free cooling to save energy. Because the conventional design method only considers the winter design condition and summer design condition, however, we cannot predict the quantity of energy saved. So till now, there is no reasonable quantitative description of the energy saving effect of the AAERE and free cooling. The mechanism of the AAERE and free cooling is analyzed in this dissertation, and based on which a new method to calculate the annual dynamic energy cost of a special air conditioning system is put forword. This method based on the process analysis of the air-conditioning system, which adopts the AAERE and free cooling. By the zone separation on psychometric chart we can determine the multi-operating mode of the air conditioning system. Then we can calculate the energy cost of the special air conditioning system. In this dissertation several kinds of air conditioning systems?multi-operating modes are given. This method can be used to aid the engineers to judge if it is reasonable to use AAERE and free cooling. In addition, with the algorithm mentioned above, the annual energy cost of the air- conditioning with sensible AAERE or enthalpy AAERE and variable fresh air volume is calculated. The difference between sensible AAERE and enthalpy AAERE is given in this dissertation. The different energy saving effect is given in the seven cities of different thermal climatic zone.
