The heat transfer in internal combustion is an important physical process which affecting the process of work and the heat load of the thermal components, it lead to the importance of studying in heat transfer of internal combustion engine. The heat transfer numerical simulation about whole internal combustion engine is a coupled computer simulation related to the flow, combustion, convective heat transfer, radiative heat transfer of gas in cylinder and the heat conduction of components in combustion chamber. With the high development of computer and numerical simulation methods, the numerical simulation of heat transfer in whole internal combustion engine has been an important research direction. This paper explores deeply this research, developed the two and three-dimensional numerical simulation study on heat transfer of the components in combustion chamber. The following is the contents of this work: 1. The significance on the research of internal combustion engine heat transfer was firstly discussed. Its characteristics were analyzed thoroughly, and its development and present state was also summarized. 2. The following two and three-dimensional mathematical models were build up to analyze the heat transfer of the combustion chamber components coupled system: a cyclic instantaneous heat transfer model, a heat transfer model for transitional and steady working condition. 3. On the basis of above two-dimensional models, aiming at different engines, different characteristic parameters and different conditions, a software for heat transfer analysis of combustion chamber components coupled system was developed. 4. The steady, cyclic instantaneous and transitional heat transfer in combustion chamber components of BF8L4 1 3F air-cooled diesel engine were calculated with above software. The two-dimensional temperature fields of piston-liner coupled system under changing conditions were obtained, and the results were analyzed. 5. Three-dimensional calculation of the steady and transitional heat transfer in combustion chamber components of BF8L413F air-cooled diesel engine was put up and the temperature fields were obtained. 6. Finally, the summary of the research work and the prospects were given.
