Earth and rockfill dam is widely used in water conservancy project type, and it is a simple structure of a dam. When a completed dam is after water storage, it can produce interaction between seepage field and stress field, which is a mechanism of mutual coupling. The mutual coupling effect makes the dam seepage field and stress field of redistribution, which affects the stability of the dam. In recent years, people gradually focus shifting from the seepage analysis and stress analysis calculated separately to seepage and stress coupling analysis and calculation, therefore, in the study of earth and rockfill dam, the seepage field and stress field coupling analysis has the vital significance. This paper is through theoretical analysis and based on the large scaled to the engineering example, barley ADINA the ditch general software numerical simulation of core wall dam construction, the following several aspects work is mainly be done.(1) This paper for the earth dam seepage analysis theory are summarized. Basing on darcy’s law, the analysis of seepage analysis method, the seepage finite element calculation principle, the basic differential equation deduction and so on are summarized.(2) It’s made a simple introduction for the ADINA software, similarity comparison of temperature field and seepage field, and used finite element method to propose the computer simulation for embankment dam seepage. Enumerating homogeneous dam, core wall dam seepage calculation example in scaled software ADINA are explained by using the thermal analysis module of the finite element numerical simulation, and through the Geo-studio seepage simulation validation of studio software, so it can lay the foundation for the subsequent engineering example seepage calculation.(3) Nonlinear finite element analysis of earth and rockfill dam stress is introduced. Duncan-chang E-B model is chosen as the soil constitutive model for calculating stress and strain. Asphalt concrete core wall dam example of the finite element numerical simulation in scaled software ADINA is presented. Solve the ADINA software itself does not have Duncan-Chang model problem.(4) Analysis of coupling mechanism of seepage and stress field on the basis of predecessors’ research, and Establish a reasonable mathematical model of two coupled finite element method, using indirect coupled seepage and stress finite element method combined with the use of the application for specific example of projects-----Damaigou clay core wall dam to made a double field coupling mutual iterative calculation, and compared the results are not coupled with the coupling structure. It follows that two-field coupling have a greater impact on the embankment dam seepage and stability, so in the actual project we can not be ignored the two coupling effect.
