Earth-rock dam is the oldest type of all dams in Hydraulic engineering.Since it can make the best, applicability, and simple design for the environment, it has become the most widely used and is extremely important type of the dam. The research of Earth-rock dam need to be more specific in-depth, during the priod of building, running on water,or special circumstances occurs. This process related to the stress, strain and seepage of the embankment dam.Traditional research methods research the seepage analysis and structural stability respectively ignoring the interactions between seepage and stress field.Howerver, with the increasing height of embankment dams, the structural stability study of Earth-rock dam during the building of the dam become necessary, and the seepage analysis and structural stability must be the important issue for earth-rock dam.The finite element method is used to study of seepage and stress analysis, because it is efficient and accurate. The constitutive model of embankment dams is Duncan Chang constitutive model which can fully reflect the body uses the most characteristic soil constitutive relation. In this paper, finite element method is introduced to sove the problem of seepage, stress analysis and their coupling. The principle of mutual influence did discuss the mechanism. At the same time, the coupled equations is introducted of iterative algorithm for its.In this paper, ABAQUS finite element software is used, throughing calling subroutine of Duncan Chang constitutive model, to simulate the process of triaxial tests. The simulation results are analyzed and compared with experimental results. The finite element software secondary development is successful, and it can be used to simulate the deformation characteristics of the soil. Then using the software of earth of Duncan-Chang constitutive mode to simulate stratified filling process. Then simulating and measuring results of engineering analysis of Duncan-Chang constitutive relation applicability of earth dam better. In this paper, through importing routines of Duncan Chang constitutive model, and using the software in the life and death of single technology, the process of construction of embankment dams is simulated, and stress-strain conditions is obtained, and is consistent with the actual project embankment dam deformation law. On the basis of the completion of the layered filling, studying the coupling analysis of seepage and stress field during the priod of storaging water. Obtainning that the process of storing water is beneficial for the upstream of dam slope. When water levels drop speedly, simulating the deformation of embankment dams, and changes within the dam seepage line.Obtaining that by the action of impermeable material, the speed of declining of seepage line of the dam inside is far less than the rate of decline in the water level. Then appearing the phenomenon that water is back to the dam of upstream. The deformation on the upstream of the dam is palpable when the water level decline rapidly,it is extremely unfavorable for upstream slope of the dam.
