At the beginning of the 21st century, the test range start using continuous wave radar which has a ranging function. This kind of radar with high integration and wide radar coverage, played an important role in shooting range test gradually. A frequency modulated continuous wave radar with double receiving stations was designed to locate the targets’ position in this paper.Paper introduced the station distribution form and the structure of the system of the test range rader, and then ranging principle and how to distinguish and match multi targets in the frequency spectrum was researched. We deduced the formula of the accuracy of target’s location.We study on the effect of the Fast Fourier Transform to the accuracy of the signal’s frequency. We discuss and simulated an algorithms to estimate the maximum frequency based on the effect of FFT, and,CZT and ZOOM-FFT also were introduced,which can improve the the accuracy of the signal’s frequency and reduce the amount of calculation. Based on the characteristic of the frequency of beat signals, we find that coherent integration, autocorrelation detection and empirical mode decomposition can improve the SNR. At the end of the article, the design scheme of signal processing systemwas elaborated and some time was spent on schematic diagram and PCB of the design.
