Automatic dependent surveillance broadcast (ADS-B) is a key technology for Free-flight in the future. By analyzing the current research status at home and abroad, this paper summarizes the main research topics and key technology in its theory, product development and applications of ADS-B technology. As the backbone of Next Generation Air Transportation System (NGATS), ADS-B has widespread applications in aviation domain. This paper focused on the applications Of Airborne Collision Avoidance. Tentative designs of ADS-B application in TCAS was proposed at first, then a Conflict selection algorithm based on ADS-B was proposed. The algorithm selected the potential conflict aircrafts within 40~100nm radius, which took advantages of abundant information and high updating rate of ADS-B. Function simulation was carried out using MATLAB, then Monte-Carlo method was used to analysis the efficiency of this algorithm. The results show that the algorithm has a good performance in selecting conflict aircrafts from secure aircrafts. The algorithm can be used as the pre-processing of the conflict probability prediction algorithm, which must be helpful to the safety of Free-Flight in the future.
