Airport ground conflict detection and resolution is a valid key technology and means in evaluating the bottleneck and features of airport operation. As the World Expo and the Asian Games are going to be held in China, hub airports in Shanghai and Guangzhou are conducting the project of capacity evaluation and researches on the operation in multi-runway airport. Accordingly studying ground operations in multi-runway mode under various strategies to familiarize the bottleneck and features of airport operation is quite necessary and has a great realistic significance.This paper mainly introduces the strategy of ground conflicts resolution based on holding at taxiways, and it focuses on the evaluation models and related algorithm of airports'ground operations under three strategies. We analyze the features of operations and conflicts of ground traffic flow in multi-runway airports, including the runway incursions and the conflicts in taxiways and aprons. And discuss the ground conflict detection and resolution models under three operating strategies which are based on the mode of holding at aprons, guiding principles and holding at taxiways. It sets research priorities on the strategies of conflicts detection and resolution which is based on the mode of holding at taxiways in multi-runways airports, and it suggests improved corresponding strategies according to individual conflicts as well as its analysis. Furthermore, the paper provides several criterions of ground operations by embedding the models and algorithm of several strategies of conflict resolution into the capacity evaluation system, and makes further efforts on enlarging it to the airport ground operations evaluation system. Finally, take Shanghai PuDong International Airport as an example, it evaluates ground operation of the airport and simulates the flight traffic flow. By simulated calculation of operating indexes under multi-circumstances, it makes comparisons and analysis under different strategies, justifying the model and its feasibilities by giving example.
