Expansive soil in Ankang region of Shanxi province as research object is chosen, a survey for many literatures on classification of expansive soil from the domestic and international is given in this paper. General geotechnical instruments are used for getting the physical and mechanical indicators, special engineering properties of expansive soil and the character of the remoulded expansive soil under different initial conditions is explored. The quantitative rules of the cohesion between soil compaction degree, water content, external pressure and expansion deformation, expansive force is explored. Regression equation of compaction degree and shearing strength is obtained. At the same time, chemical consolidation fluid is explored, the NCM consolidation fluid is used as a stabilized agent to improve the nature expansive soil. Physical property of improved expansive soil, expansion ratio, expansive force, shearing strength index, water stability is researched. The indexes of improved expansive soil are got, which are used to compare with the indexes of element expansive soil, the effect which consolidation fluid has on expansive soil. The main purpose is to make a more comprehensive research and provide the engineering parameters and theoretical basis for the expansive soil region.
