Short-term operation scheduling is an important part of the hydropower station operation and management. It can take full advantage of hydropower resources and the advantage of peak load regulation and frequency modulation and other advantages, ensure the safety and stability of grid. Meanwhile, the peak load regulation can also reduce primary energy consumption, to save energy and reduce the emission.Hydropower resource is abundant in China. In recent years, hydropower station has been considerable developed. The growing complexity of hydropower system brings more operation issues of the actual scheduling, especially in short-term operation scheduling. Complex operational requirements and more constraints make the modeling and algorithms hard. Therefore, in order to achieve the actual generation requirements and meet the complex operation constraints, we need contraposing different issues to research effective optimization model and solution methods.The paper primary researches two new short-term scheduling issues in the actual generation. The first is large hydropower station generating short-term inter-network optimization in the China Southern Power Grid; the second is Songjianghe cascade hydropower stations inter-basin diversion short-term generation scheduling in the Northeast Power Grid. Separately contraposing the characteristics of the two new issues research practical model and rapid and effective algorithms. For the first issue, taking the Guangxi Longtan hydropower station in Red River Basin which transmits Guangdong and Guangxi grid as research object, establish the short-term scheduling model which optimization objective is peak power maximum, resolve the complex hydropower station operation and power grid constraints, and distribute power according to the proportion of man-made distribution to be beneficial to actual operation. This model also takes advantage of the hydropower station's peak regulation in grid. The paper uses multi-objective optimization method to solve, finally, according to solve an example to check the model and the algorithmic are efficient and universal. For the second issue, the paper uses peak power maximum model combined with conventional scheduling model to solve the cascade hydropower stations inter-basin diversion generation scheduling, researches the algorithm of the diversion. The peak power maximum model is used to take advantage of Songjianghe cascade hydropower stations'peak load regulation in Northeast Power Grid. The conventional model is used in the winter when the cascade hydro power stations'generation influenced by frozen sluice gate. The optimal model uses POA algorithm and heuristic search method to solve, and the conventional model uses heuristic search method to solve. The paper also gives the results of the two models. Finally, it's the summary of the paper, while some places for improvement.
