With the retain number of automobile increasing, supply of the petroleum is getting tense and its storage is drying up. In the meanwhile, the exhaust gas from the cars increase the harmful pollutant in the atmosphere and the environment pollution is getting worse and worse. The new energy vehicle is becoming the hit due to its lower energy consumption and less polluted.The hybrid electrical vehicle is lower in emission and energy consumption and it has the advantages of both traditional vehicles and new energy vehicles, which causes great attention of governments and Automobile companies. But the structure and function of control system of hybrid electrical vehicle are more complex than the traditional vehicles. The cost of developing, testing and diagnosing is higher than the traditional ones. The thesis compared the several layouts of hybrid vehicles, based on which it proposed and introduced the basic structure of parallel Plug-in hybrid power train system and also chose the engine, the motor, the transmission, the battery and the Hybrid Controlling Unit. And the thesis also did some research on the hybrid electrical vehicles and the vehicle diagnosis home and abroad. After referring to the various kinds of diagnosis methods and getting a detail analysis on the parallel plug-in hybrid electrical power train system, it brought forward a basic structure of fault diagnosis scanner suitable to the particular power train system. Based on the basic need of the fault diagnosis scanner, it chose PLC, EVIEW as the hardware and the EV5000 attached in the EVIEW touch screen as the software for programming of communication part with the Hybrid Controlling Unit, display and diagnosis interface.According to the basic need of the power train system, the thesis analyzed the potential fault occurred in the power train system. And it wrote a sub-program embedding in the control program to make a judgment to the potential fault. After the judgment was made, a signal was generated, which had the same address with the warning light in the diagnostic interface. In this way, the fault signals were transmitted to the touch screen. Meanwhile, the addresses of components in the display interface were set the same with the parameters in the PLC. So through this communicating program, the real-time status of the parameters of the power train system and the fault occurred were transmitted to the screen.According to the experiment, the scanner can provide a real-time display to the parameters when the power train gets started, accelerating, shifting, braking and prompt a warning when the power train system get a fault. In this way, basically, the diagnosis scanner achieves the goal that diagnoses the parallel Plug-in hybrid electrical power train system and provides necessary experience for the further development.
