With the rapid development of integrated circuits, more and more serious challenges exist in design of power delivery network due to the increase of issues in power integrity. The available algorithm can't be directly utilized in the practical design because of the rigorous constraint conditions. In this paper, we design the power delivery network according to the type selection and number calculation of decoupling capacitors. The type selection mainly depends on self resonant frequencies of decoupling capacitors, which can be employed to cover the whole range of target frequency and, thus, ensure the reliability of our design. Additionally, the number calculation is based on the optimization method (i.e., genetic algorithm) and the theory of power delivery network. The goal is to obtain the optimal decoupling scheme with the least capacitors satisfying design requirement and, thus, reduce the cost to greatest degree.By the simulations, we find that our design method is feasible for practical applications, has good stability and can achieve excellent results. The obtained impedance curve of power delivery network is flat as well as close to target impedance. Moreover, the number of capacitors is small and not more than the results obtained by the classic algorithm.
